Can’t reach your editor? Need someone to read your work out loud? Google says its AI can help.
Google has announced new Gemini features to its Workspace apps, which also include podcast-like overviews of your work.
The search giant is introducing Google Workspace Flows to bring its “AI capabilities” into Workspace tools such as Docs, Sheets, Meet, and more.
One of the features the company is releasing is Notebook LM-like AI podcasts incorporated into Google Docs. Notebook LM is an AI-powered tool that assists users while they work on their documents by providing summaries, answering questions, and more.
Its feature, an audio overview, will also be available on Google Docs. Users can listen to the content of their document “to catch awkward phrasing” or to get a summary of a long document. This could also be helpful for users who tend to take in information by listening to it.
The new feature will allow users to create full audio versions of their documents and “choose podcast-style overviews” for the most important parts.
The company says that the new feature will become available in the upcoming weeks.
Among other features available for Google Docs is Help me refine which serves as an AI editor or “a writing coach.” The main aim of the feature is to help its users improve their writing by giving comments on how to make clearer points and stronger arguments, and how to better structure a piece.
Help me refine is expected to be released “later this quarter.”
The company also plans to lend a helping hand to Sheets users by releasing Help me analyze. The tool will provide users with data trends and suggestions by also providing interactive charts. Google hints that the new feature is supposed to aid everyone, “whether they’re a spreadsheet expert or not.”
The new feature for Sheets is planned to be released sometime this year.
