MrBeast praises Musk for SpaceX and vows to only book flights on planes with Starlink

Despite Elon Musk’s social media outbursts, YouTuber MrBeast has commended the SpaceX CEO for his efforts in advancing human civilization. However, the praise received a rather lukewarm response from the world’s richest man.

MrBeast has praised Musk for Starlink and his work with SpaceX, saying he doesn’t doubt that someone will go to Mars in our lifetime, and the tech company is going to “fundamentally progress humanity in unfathomable ways.”

On Dear Media’s The Good Guys podcast, former child actor Josh Peck interviewed Jimmy Donaldson in an episode titled “The Reality of Being MrBeast.”

During the interview, Donaldson gave his opinion on Starlink and how it's helped him and his crew during filming.

Donaldson claims that while in remote areas, his crew attaches a Starlink to the top of a car and they get a “perfect signal the entire car ride.”

The YouTuber also said that while he and his crew were filming in Antarctica, the only way to access the internet was through Starlink.

As well as using it when filming in remote locations, Donaldson said that once Starlink WiFi is more widely used while on planes, he will only book flights with Starlink internet.

While commending Starlink, Donaldson also said that Musk’s work with his technology company SpaceX is advancing human civilization.

“In our lifetime, someone’s going to go to Mars thanks to SpaceX, I really do believe that,” Donaldson said while clarifying that this isn’t guaranteed.

However, Donaldson did comment on Musk’s behavior on his social media platform X.

“I wish Elon would tweet less crazy things so it would be a little easier to support him,” he said.

While Donaldson acknowledged that Musk’s social media rampages are controversial, he said the SpaceX CEO is “changing the world for the better.”

“You’ve gotta separate the two,” Donaldson said when talking about Musk’s social media outbursts and his work with SpaceX.

Musk simply responded on X by saying the moment Donaldson praised his work as “cool.”

While celebrities praise Musk for his work with Starlink, government officials have previously condemned the SpaceX CEO for allegedly profiting from war crimes.

Polish foreign minister Radosław Sikorski, who had a spat with Musk over Starlink last year, accused the tech billionaire of “making money on war crimes.”

US sanctions, imposed after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, prohibit the sale and supply of Starlink satellites to the Russian government and its entities.

Yet Russian forces have reportedly used Starlink satellite systems to extend the range of strike drones to conduct mid-range strikes against Ukraine, according to findings by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

However, recent reports from Ukrainian frontline generals suggest that Musk has finally blocked Russia’s access to his Starlink satellite network, which has helped Ukraine regain previously occupied territory.

“After the blocking of Starlink for the Russians, the level of their efficiency compared to ours has sharply decreased, because Starlink is practically irreplaceable as a combat communication system,” Brigadier General Andrii Biletski, commander of Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, told The Independent.
