Why is Samsung discontinuing this phone after just three months?

Is Samsung making room for new smartphones by suspending the sales of one of its foldables?
With Samsung releasing its new Galaxy S26 smartphone lineup and speculations over the launch of its A series, which should be released sometime in March, the company is also cutting some smartphone models from its supply.
The company is ending sales of the Samsung Z TriFold smartphone, which was launched in South Korea last year.
Samsung will start discontinuing the trifold in South Korea, followed by the US, after its inventory is cleared, reports Bloomberg.
The company launched the Samsung Z TriFold in South Korea at the beginning of 2025, priced at 3.59 million won ($2,440).
A year later, in January of 2026, the phone reached the US market, where it was sold for $2,900.
While the smartphone was considered a novelty for its ability to turn into a tiny tablet, its hefty price tag may have been the reason sales didn’t take off.

It has also been reported that users could only buy the smartphone from Samsung, and that it was not available from third-party resellers or mobile carriers.
Is it still possible to buy the trifold now? The Samsung website shows that the Z TriFold smartphone is sold out online. Nevertheless, users can still find some stock left in physical stores.
