The streaming platform is suspending support for older Apple products.
The affected devices are older-generation iPhones and iPads. YouTube’s release of a new update for its iOS and iPadOS apps caused the discontinuation.
YouTube’s latest update on the App Store is 20.22.1. While the release doesn’t specify any changes, it now requires iOS and iPadOS 16 to run, meaning several Apple devices will no longer support the app.
The list of devices that no longer support the YouTube app includes the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4.
Apple also issued a list of devices compatible with iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.
Users with one of these devices and the YouTube app will no longer receive updates or support.
While there are not many users of older iPhone models, a number of people still use earlier iPad versions, such as iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 4, reports 9to5Mac.
