Users again roasting tech YouTuber MKBHD – this time for speeding

It’s the second time in less than two months that MKBHD’s plan to earn money took an unexpected turn.

Just over a month after releasing a wallpaper app that received widespread criticism due to its inadequate pricing, popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee has once again come under scrutiny.

Now Brownlee, who is one of the most watched tech video reviewers on YouTube, posted a commercial video of a DJI camera in which he drove a car at 96 mph (154 kph) in a kid zone where only 35 mph (56 kph) is allowed.

Commentators on YouTube and Reddit called him out for speeding. Many pointed out that speeding nearly three times the allowed limit is an offense in a European country and in many US states and would result in a lost driving license and potential jail time.

“In Switzerland, that would be… At least two years of driver's license suspension, up to four years in jail, and probably a huge fine related to his income,” said one commentator on Reddit.

After releasing the video, Brownlee edited it, taking out the part with the speedometer sign.

“I also understand that this looks like covering it up, but I think it's the right thing to do,” he explained on X.

In response to criticism, the YouTuber posted an apology on X, calling his behavior “absolutely inexcusable and dangerous.”

In September, Brownlee was heavily criticized for wanting to charge users $11 a month for his wallpaper app Panels, which also had security issues.

Brownlee has since changed the pricing of the app.
