The internet's most beloved pop star turned astronaut, Katy Perry, has had another run-in with artificial intelligence (AI) at this year’s Met Gala.
Katy Perry, known most infamously for her short trip into space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin spacecraft, has crossed paths with yet another AI-generated image of herself at the Met Gala, but all is not as it seems.

The E.T. singer posted an artificially generated image of herself at this year’s Met Gala, wearing a cutout, futuristic suit jacket with a patent leather skirt.
Perry captioned the post: “couldn’t make it to the Met, I’m on The Lifetimes Tour. P.S. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of ya’ll.”
The array of images Perry posted features her walking the blue carpet. The pop star included netizens' posts about the look and her “appearance” at the Met Gala.
A video from TikTok posted by Perry shows a user talking about how scarily good artificial intelligence is. The caption above the video says: “I hate that I love Katy (spelled Katie) Perry’s outfit.”
Another social media user said: “whoever does Katy Perry’s AI Met Gala fits eats every time.”

“If I had a nickel every time an AI Katy Perry Met Gala look went viral I would have two, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice,” said another user.
“One thing about me is I will fall for AI Katy Perry at the Met every time,” one user said.
Last year, an image of Perry at the Met Gala went viral, despite not even attending the event.

At the time, Perry’s own mother was convinced by the photos, stating that Perry looked like “the Rose Parade” in a text to the singer.
Perry is pictured in a plunging floor-length dress adorned with flowers and butterflies. The deepfake is really convincing, and it has fooled many people online.

Since Perry’s departure into space, the singer has received tons of backlash. The BBC reported that the pop star was left feeling “battered and bruised” by the criticism following her recent spaceflight.
Perry received criticism from seemingly everyone, from fellow pop star Kesha to the fast food chain Wendy’s.
The fast food chain tweeted, “Can we send her back?” referring to Perry’s spaceflight and suggesting that someone needs to launch the pop star back into outer space.

Media reports that Wendy’s adamantly refused to delete the post.
