While these events may often make you feel all hyped and hopeful for what Apple has to offer, there’s no better place that will make you snap right out of it than social media, where its users and those interested in the company’s latest devices share what they actually think about it in real time.

So what are some of the first impressions people shared about Apple’s new devices?

New iPhone, same affordability issues

One of the most awaited products in Apple's lineup was the iPhone 17 and the latest addition to the series, the iPhone 17 Air.

The company also introduced iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

When it comes to hardware upgrades, the iPhone 17 now includes a 120 Hz display and improved cameras. Its Pro and Pro Max variants will also include better battery life, cooling, and pro-tier cameras. The iPhone Pro Max also comes in a larger size.

Nevertheless, Reddit users were interested in other devices' technicalities, such as color or the smartphone’s price.

“Whoever approved the Pro colors needs to be fired on the spot. Disgusting,” wrote one user.

“Haha, I didn't expect much, and I'm happy Apple didn't let me down,” added another user.

For many netizens, the detail that most intrigued them was iPhone prices. The company shared that it will keep the same price for iPhone 17 as for iPhone 16 ($799) while increasing the price of its Pro and Pro Max series by $100. The cost of the iPhone 17 Air, the latest addition to the smartphone series, will start at $999.

“Watching the Apple event with excitement just so I can keep my phone for the 4th year,” reacted one Redditor.

“iPhone 17 looks good, but I’m still buying the pro version. I don’t want people to think I’m a peasant,” another user joked.

One way users can get a new smartphone is through the iPhone Upgrade Program.

The company also took the opportunity to provide users with tips on how to afford the latest smartphone. For example, it revealed that owners of older devices can get a trade-in value of up to $1,100, which interested many users online.

“Did I just hear a trade-in value of $1,100 for iPhone 13 Pro Max and newer devices?” asked one user.

“‘UP TO’ are the key words in that phrase,” wrote another user, noting that the actual trade-in price is much lower. For example, one of Reddit's users revealed that they got an offer of $520 for their iPhone 15 Max Pro.

Perhaps more will be uncovered after reviewers and users get some hands-on experience.

Apple releases new watches, but the old ones seem to work just fine

During the Apple event, the company also introduced its Apple Watch series, which includes the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3.

The latest additions to the smartwatch collection include a high blood pressure alert for the Apple Watch Series 11 and a satellite connectivity feature for the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

However, users did not seem impressed with the new smartwatch upgrades.

“I’m still rocking the Series 1 Ultra, and I still don't have a reason to upgrade because there is not much in terms of a $799 upgrade, in my opinion. But that's just me,” wrote one user.

“No way. That’s like zero changes compared to my U2,” added another user.

“Apple Watch 3 ultra mega. Now, including coffee and sandwich maker,” joked one netizen.

“Poor Eugene, they told him he’s not coming off that mountain unless he gets at least a thousand pre orders before the event is done,” wrote another user referring to Eugene Kim, Vice President at Apple, who presented the watch capabilities during the event from what looked like the outside of Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The Apple Watch Series is already available to pre-order, and the products will be available for sale starting September 19th. iPhone 17 series pre-orders will start September 12th.
