It hasn’t been the smoothest start of the year for Garmin, or at least for its users. Many have reported glitching in their smartwatches, which is now known as the “blue triangle” bug.
But it seems that the issues with Garmin devices aren’t exactly over.
Reddit users sought advice online after noticing that their Garmin Venu 3S showed an error, after which it showed a notification that said: “Want to read the Bible from your wrist? Press the button below to download ‘Holy [...].”
The user shared that after this, the device’s battery life went from 50% to just 8%.
The Redditor also contacted the Garmin support center for help. The company advised the user to turn off notifications from Reddit as it was most probably a smart notification from the Reddit app. It’s also been reported that several other users have encountered the same issue.
What a user noted is that their Reddit app notifications have been disabled.
“The chat session disconnected three times while I was trying to ask about this. I am feeling very spooked by Garmin this evening. Has anyone else had anything like this,” asked the original poster.
Some users tried to figure out what prompted this situation. One Reddit user explained what might’ve happened by stating that it was “an ad from the developer of maps4garmin promoting [its] other stuff.”
While the “mystery” was soon resolved, the message didn’t stop others from making a few funny jokes about the “Bible” notification that popped on the user’s smartwatch.
“Great, Jehovah’s Witnesses are now in our watches,” wrote one user online, with another stating: “Honestly, it makes sense. They both have serious judgments about my lifestyle.”
“If the watch stops counting your steps, that’s when God was carrying you,” joked another user online.
“It’s been infected by the Holy Spirit. REPENT! Or work out harder. Whatever works for you!” added another Redditor.
Has my watch got a virus/been hacked..?

“I’d rather stare at the triangle of death,” wrote another user, referring to a recent Garmin outage.
Last month, many Garmin smartwatch users reported cases of their devices suddenly becoming unresponsive. Among the affected models were the Garmin Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, and 965, the Garmin Fenix 7 and 8, and the Garmin Instinct 3.
The situation soon escalated, and users became irritated at how the company handled the whole situation. The fixes that the company provided weren’t entirely helpful.
The “blue triangle” bug not only unveiled underlying issues with the device software but also shed light on how Garmin has been rather difficult to communicate with when it comes to reporting device-related issues.
