iPhone 17 camera placement leaked: users say it looks like the “pyramids of Egypt”

More predictions are being made as Apple’s latest smartphone is expected to be released in September of this year.

Majin Bu, a tipster with 67,000 followers on X, recently shared what the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro might look like before its actual release.

The image of the dummy models reveals that the future iPhones might have a MagSafe charging support.

The new design could also include volume and action buttons on the left side of the device.

The photo also reveals that the iPhone 17 Air model could come with a slimmer camera placement and a single camera. Meanwhile, the 17 Pro variant could have a new camera design with three cameras, the same as previous models.

What’s different is that the LED flashlight, microphone, and LiDAR scanner could be placed on the right of the camera bar.

The shared pictures prompted a discussion on X with some split opinions.

“Considering that Apple still needs to finalize AI in iOS 19 and also do a major system redesign, I think the iPhone 17 lineup could break sales records,” wrote one X user, with others seeing potential in the new device.

However, not all were impressed with the possible iPhone 17 design. One thing that didn’t escape users’ attention was the “camera bumps.”

“As much as I want to upgrade my iPhone 14, I won't upon seeing the new camera bump. I will stay with 14 until 18 pro max comes out with a better camera design, not this rectangular type with lots of spaces in between,” shared one user.

“I’ll be impressed when the camera bump is no longer a thing,” noted another.

“Camera bump on the bump. Start to look like the pyramids of Egypt.”

Rumors about a possible iPhone camera “makeover” have been reported previously, suggesting a horizontal three-camera design.

While no other specifications were mentioned, there are speculations that Apple’s upcoming smartphone will be its slimmest phone yet.

It was recently shared that among other changes, the new iPhone might not include charging ports. Apple already had to comply with the EU’s Common Charger Directive and ensure all of its smartphones included a USB-C charging port instead of a Lightning port.
