If you’re thinking of trying out Apple TV+ but aren’t quite sure, the streamer is dishing out free access on the first weekend of 2025. All you need is a compatible device and, of course, an Apple ID.
The premium streamer’s library isn’t as extensive as Netflix's. However, the quality of the shows is probably higher.
It’s Apple TV+ we have to thank for Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso, Silo, the brilliant Slow Horses, and, of course, Severance, one of the most original series lately. Season 2 of this dystopian sci-fi workplace drama is landing on January 17th, and we can’t wait.
The service isn’t that expensive, either. It currently costs $9.99 a month, and there are no ads. Apple TV+ also allows up to six members of a Family Sharing group to watch content under a single subscription.
For comparison, in the United States, Netflix’s cheapest ad-free plan costs $15.49 a month, and you’ll have to pay $7.99 for each extra member slot.
Now, if you’re still not sure – and it’s fine, there are now so many streaming platforms, and subscribing to all of them isn’t smart – Apple TV+ is going to be free January 3rd through January 5th.
“Apple TV+ will be free on any device where Apple TV+ is available. All you need is an Apple ID to see what all the buzz is about,” said the streamer in the press release.
Of course, the company is hoping that people who will binge on the platform’s content during the preview weekend will then subscribe to the service and stick around.
This is the first time that Apple has offered a preview weekend. A few days ago, Apple TV+ began teasing that it was planning to open its library to non-subscribers.

But if you miss the special offer or can’t find the time to watch this weekend, fret not. You can still subscribe to Apple TV+ and enjoy a seven-day free trial – and if you don’t like it or somehow manage to watch everything you want in 168 hours, you can cancel at no cost.
Moreover, customers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, or iPod touch can enjoy three months of Apple TV+ for free.
