Twitch, the live streaming platform, just revealed its numbers for 2024, showcasing everything from top global games to Twitch’s most viewed streamers.
Twitch released its 2024 recap on what users have watched and engaged with throughout the year.
The video live streaming service announced that it had roughly 21 billion active streamers alongside over 20 billion hours watched in 2024.
The top categories worldwide include Grand Theft Auto V, which, with almost 1.5 billion hours watched, was the global game of the year on Twitch.
Other popular games to watch on stream include Valorant, with over 260 million hours watched.
But users reportedly tuned in for more than just gamer streams in 2024. In North America, “Just Chatting,” the channel where Twitch streamers dedicate their time to interacting with viewers, was second to Grand Theft Auto V, with nearly 850 million hours watched.
Twitch users love music, too. Icon Charlie XCX took over the platform and debuted her remixed album live in October, which had almost 40,000 peak views.
Streamer of the year was YouTuber, streamer, and internet personality KaiCenat, with users consuming 178 million hours of his content.
Twitch is a live streaming platform primarily used for live streaming gameplay. But while it used to be a space for users to share their skills, the platform is now used for a variety of different reasons, from sharing music to “real-life” moments.
The platform made roughly $1.8 billion in 2024, according to Business of Apps, and has roughly 2.27 million monthly users, according to Twitch Tracker.
