The widespread RAM shortage has caught up with Apple, too.
While the shortage of random-access memory (RAM) chips has been an ongoing issue for quite a while, it’s now also affecting Apple.
Some users who ordered the company’s Mac Mini and Mac Studio computers are now experiencing shipping delays.
While not all buyers are affected, those who ordered the Mac Mini and the Mac Studio with a RAM upgrade could be waiting 4 to 5 months for their devices to arrive.
In the US, it takes about 16 to 18 weeks for a Mac mini equipped with an M4 Pro chip and 64GB of RAM to reach its consumers.
Less significant, but still a delay is also expected for devices with base specifications, such as the Mac Mini with the M4 chip and 16GB of RAM, which would take a month to be sent to its users, reports MacRumors.
Those who would like to purchase a Mac Studio with an M3 Ultra chip and 256GB of RAM will need to wait 4 to 5 months for delivery.
The company also removed the 512GB of RAM option for Mac Studios.
It’s not yet clear when Apple will be back on track with its supply, so those considering upgrading their computers should keep an eye on delivery terms.
The worldwide RAM shortage began last year, as AI data centers significantly increased demand.
The RAM shortage not only affects how long users have to wait for their devices to be made and ready to use, but also drives their prices to skyrocket.
It was previously reported that an entry-level PC, which could be bought for around $600 a year ago, now costs at least $1,000.

These RAM-related changes have made it one of the most expensive components in a computer.
Nevertheless, the current situation didn’t stop Apple from releasing several new laptops last month, including the budget-friendly MacBook Neo.
Priced at $600, the new laptop comes equipped with an A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in iPhone 16 Pro smartphones, and only 8GB of RAM, with no possibility to upgrade.
