You can use PC Protect on all most popular platforms, like Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. However, keep in mind that it’s a relatively new antivirus software, so there’s still some room for improvement.

Is PC Protect safe?
Yes, PC Protect antivirus is safe to use and provides reliable malware protection services. This product is developed by the same company as TotalAV Antivirus and even implements some of their security features, such as the SafeBrowsing VPN or the WebShield.
Keep in mind that TotalAV’s performance is tested by independent testing labs, like AV-Test and AV-Comparatives and the results are quite impressive. It successfully blocks 98.7% of malware and other cyber threats and is marked as the top product for home users.
So, it is safe to say that if both malware protection suites come from the same developer, you should expect similar quality of service.
PC Protect security features
PC Protect has many useful security features. Some of them come included in the premium subscription package while others can be purchased as add-ons. Below, we provide a comprehensive overview of each security attribute you can get with this antivirus suite.
The SafeBrowsing VPN is included in the PC Protect premium plan. We’ve tested the services and they are relatively good. You can choose from 100+ servers in 123 countries. Considering that the VPN comes as an additional security feature to the antivirus suite, you can definitely find a server to get basic protection for browsing.
You can manage the VPN services from the PC Protect settings: alter the kill switch mode, choose the tunneling protocol and enable VPN’s auto-connect feature when an insecure network is detected.
Additionally, PC Protect’s SafeBrowsing VPN gives unlimited data and you can use it at all times to secure your browsing activities. Although the speeds are also decent, it’s not mentioned whether it operates under no-logs policy. So, privacy-conscious users should keep that in mind.
WebShield for internet security
PC Protect also offers the advanced WebShield feature for internet security. It is designed to block malicious websites and phishing attempts, so hackers wouldn’t be able to access your private information, like credentials, login details, and other sensitive data.
Just like with PC Protect VPN, you can customize the WebShield in settings: set it to block ‘low trust’ sites and cryptomining URLs, and whitelist specific website domains.
While this feature is pre-set to turn on as soon as you install the antivirus, you can also get an individual WebShield extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers.
It’s important to note that the PC Protect WebShield is supposed to mark safe websites with a green tick and malicious ones with a red cross. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get it to work properly which is quite disappointing.
Data breach checker
The data breach checker that comes together with the antivirus suite can help you find out if any of your passwords have been compromised. This feature increases the protection of your sensitive information to reduce the risk of identity theft by scanning the dark web for data leaks.
You can access PC Protect data breach checker via the app. However, what’s unusual is that you must manually run the scan by entering your email address. It might be inconvenient as it doesn’t continuously monitor whether your passwords have been leaked – you have to check it yourself.
If you seek a solution to keep all your passwords safe and in one place, this antivirus has a dedicated password manager. Keep in mind that PC Protect Password Vault is not included in the subscription plan and you must purchase it for an additional $9/year.
We’ve tested this feature and it’s a standard password manager which allows you to choose a master password and use it to access the securely stored logins. Additionally, you get an option to generate strong and unique passwords to protect all your accounts.
If you go to the settings in the app, you can download dedicated PC Protect Password Vault Assistant extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge to integrate it within your browser. This way, the password manager auto-fills and auto-saves the login details whenever you need to sign in or create a new account.
PC Protect’s Adblock Pro feature comes at an extra cost – $24/year. It blocks intrusive ads while you browse, do online shopping or watch video content. So, you can enjoy browsing the internet without any interruptions.
However, it’s frustrating that this feature has such a high price tag and is not included in the premium subscription plan. Keep in mind that most of the best antivirus programs have in-built ad blockers that come with no additional cost.
Plans and pricing
This antivirus doesn’t offer many subscription options like others. You can only choose between its free version or the premium PC Protect package for $19 per year.
|PC Security 2021 Free||Only allows to perform quick and system scans||$0.00|
|PC Security 2021 Premium||Real-time protection, VPN services, WebShield feature, and system optimization tools||$19.00/year|
While other well-known malware protection tools have at least two or three subscription plans which include a variety of features, PC Protect employs a different pricing structure. It offers users to upgrade the basic subscription by purchasing additional features individually. Below, you will find a detailed list of available add-ons and their pricing.
|Unlimited Protection (12 licenses)||$39/year|
If you’re seeking very specific security features and don’t want to get a package with tools that you won’t use, PC Protect might be the right fit for you. However, all-in-one antivirus suites come at significantly lower prices compared to what you’d pay for individual add-ons.
Additionally, it’s important to note that the prices of the premium PC Protect plan and add-ons increase rapidly after the first year. So, you should either be prepared to open your wallet or simply unsubscribe after 12 months and search for more affordable security solutions.
PC Security 2021 Free
PC Protect has a free version that covers one device. It includes only the basic scanning features which provide a simple report on the detected issues. You can scan your device for the following:
- Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA)
- Malicious websites
- Junk files
Keep in mind that you won’t be able to remove malware, cookies, junk files or other potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), as PC Protect’s free version doesn’t include real-time protection.
So, I would recommend searching for another free antivirus software if you want to get better security features.
PC Security 2021 Premium
PC Protect’s paid subscription plan supports Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices. You can get it for $19/year for 2 devices with the following features included in the package:
- Real-time protection
- Antivirus scanner
- Identity and online shopping protection
- System optimization
Most antivirus suites include VPN services only in the most expensive packages, so you can definitely save some money with PC Protect. Considering that you get real-time protection from malware, system optimization tools, and a VPN for safe browsing, it’s a decent deal.
Additionally, the System Optimization feature includes quite an extensive list of tools:
- Junk file cleaner
- Duplicate file remover
- Software uninstaller
- Startup manager
- Web browser cleanup
The combination of those can definitely help you increase your device’s performance and keep the system running smoothly. Keep in mind that you can try all features of the premium PC Protect subscription plan risk-free, as there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Is PC Protect worth the money?
PC Protect is worth the money if you intend to use it only for the first year. As it was mentioned before, the pricing of the subscription increases drastically for the subsequent years, so there are definitely more affordable options.
However, the first-year discount is especially useful as you can get the same features offered by the TotalAV Internet Security plan, just 50% cheaper.
Ease of use and setup
You can easily install and use PC Protect antivirus, as it’s user-friendly and well-organized. However, it has a complicated payment process. Once you pay for the subscription, you are forced to go through multiple different pages offering numerous add-ons.
Additionally, the purchase confirmation email was marked as spam when I bought PC Protect. So, there are quite a few aspects that significantly deteriorate the experience once you decide to get this antivirus package.
PC Protect interface
PC Protect interface on Windows is very simple, so you can easily navigate through the app to find everything you need. Each security tool is listed on the left-side pane of the app. You can access the following features within a few clicks:
- Real-time protection
- Malware scan
- System optimization
- Password Vault
- Protection sharing
It instantly shows you whether the real-time protection is active and even offers to run a Smart scan – check for malware, privacy issues, junk files, and evaluate device’s performance in just one click.
If you want PC Protect to solely check your device for malware infections, you can reach Quick, System, and Custom scan options by opening the Malware Scan tab. Customizable scans allow you to select specific files and folders that you want to check, which is quite useful.
Additionally, you can easily manage and customize each feature from the Settings section. For example, choose the VPN’s protocol or enable/disable the kill switch.
However, it’s worth mentioning that even though the Password Vault and Protection sharing options are included in the main pane, you can only use them if you purchase these features as add-ons for an additional price.
PC Protect mobile app
I’ve tested PC Protect on an Android smartphone and it definitely doesn’t live up to the expectations. The app seems outdated and animations are continuously lagging.
However, it does offer quite a few security features:
- Antivirus scan
- Disc cleaner
- App lock
It’s important to note that the Antivirus scan feature comes with some limitations. It only checks apps for potential threats and doesn’t run scans on other files.
So, keep in mind that there are significantly better antivirus apps for Android that you can currently get if you need high quality protection for Android.
PC Protect offers 24/7 customer support which you can reach via the live chat, ticket submission, or email. I tested the live chat option and got an agent in around a minute – they were quick to respond.
It’s worth mentioning that you can also find an extensive knowledge base, help articles, and FAQs. So, I would say that PC Protect has professional and helpful customer support to solve all potential issues.
Although the support is good, it's very likely that I was talking to TotalAV's customer support, as both providers use the same live chat service and an agent even linked me to one of TotalAV’s help articles. The two support pages are also identical.
PC Protect antivirus offers good protection against malware and has a user-friendly Windows application. You can easily navigate through the dashboard and quickly find everything you might need.
However, it’s Android app does not deliver the high quality services that we would recommend. So, if you’re searching for antivirus suites for smartphones, you should consider other options.
Additionally, PC Protect also offers a wide variety of additional security features, like advanced scanning, an ad blocker, and a password manager. Although they’re useful, you should expect to open your wallet as they come with a pretty high price tag.
