Apple may give a display makeover to devices that didn’t make it to its autumn release

The new upgrade may also mean steeper product prices.
Apple has already introduced new smartphones, wearables, and accessories, as well as the latest MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, both powered by the M5 chip. Now, the revamped MacBook Air, iPad Air, and iPad Mini are next in line.
The company seems to be preparing significant updates to these products, which will reportedly be upgraded with OLED screens. OLED is a display technology that is known for its higher image quality, high contrast, and vivid colors, especially compared with LCD displays.
Bloomberg reports that the Apple iPad mini will be the first of three products to be released with an OLED display. The device is expected to be launched in early 2026.
The shift to OLED displays could encourage users to upgrade their devices. However, this change could also raise the cost of the iPad, making it more expensive by $100.
For instance, the starting price of the latest available iPad mini is $500, which could mean that the future device could cost at least $600.
The spike in price could also be explained by Apple testing a new iPad mini casing that’s water-resistant.
It’s also been shared that Apple has been considering a new speaker system with vibration-based technology, which would change the design slightly, as the company could remove speaker holes from where the water could get in.
It’s not yet clear whether these are the only and final changes to the iPad mini, which received its latest upgrade last year, when it was released with a new processor powered by Apple Intelligence.
According to Bloomberg, the iPad Air's next update will still include an LCD display, with an OLED one being introduced with the following release.
The MacBook Pro will be the first Mac device with an OLED screen. It’s also been hinted that the MacBook Air may also receive the new display, but not until its release in 2028.
While the company is shifting to OLED displays from LCDs, Apple already had two autumn launches.
The first one, held in September, was known as the “Awe-Dropping” event, during which the company introduced the iPhone 17 series. While the new Apple smartphones have been out for a while, they seem to keep their relevance, with users reporting multiple issues with their latest iPhones.
Nevertheless, this doesn’t stop them from getting the latest Apple smartphone, as the company boasts “better-than-expected” iPhone 17 sales in the US and China.
Apple's second autumn release was dedicated to its new MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, which are equipped with the latest M5 chip.
