Too many products launched at once: Apple is changing its iPhone release schedule

There was a time when Apple fans would eagerly await the summertime release of the latest iPhones. After nearly 15 years, the company is once again adjusting its launch period.

For many Apple fans, autumn is one of the most anticipated seasons, as it’s when the company announces its latest smartphones. However, this era might be over.

While most tech companies focus on creating smartphones with the most advanced AI capabilities, Apple is putting its emphasis on its most popular product – the iPhone – by introducing its more innovative variants.

For years, Apple fans have eagerly awaited the autumn, typically September, when the company releases its latest iPhone line.

However, the company’s new plans will also adjust the release date of the devices.

Until 2011, Apple would release its iPhones sometime in June or July. Then the company shifted to autumn due to the delay of iOS 5. Nevertheless, this decision ultimately paid off, as it coincided with the start of the holiday shopping season.

Now, Apple is once again changing the release dates. The reason for this is that the company releases a number of new products during autumn, which can often be overwhelming.

This year, during the “Awe Dropping” event, the company unveiled a new iPhone 17 lineup, along with new AirPods 3 Pro and Apple Watches.

In October, Apple introduced the new MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, both of which are powered by the M5 chip.

While this may be good news for those who want to upgrade their current devices, the company’s decision to change the release date of a new iPhone is likely related to the fact that Apple has been launching a number of new devices simultaneously.

This makes it harder for the company to stretch the revenue throughout the year. It also means that the company’s marketing and engineering teams are under a lot of pressure during those months, with the company’s suppliers also overloaded, reports Bloomberg.

Next year, the company is expected to release the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone in the autumn.

The rest of the company’s iPhone 18 lineup, including the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, as well as a new iPhone Air, should roll out after six months. This is expected to become the new standard, with Apple making users to wait another half a year for the rest of the smartphones to be released.

When it comes to Apple’s future Air smartphone, it has recently been reported that the company is delaying the release of the next iPhone Air due to lower demand.

In addition to the new hardware, Apple is also enhancing the capabilities of its smartphones, including the introduction of more satellite-powered features.
