CES 2026: “Worst in Show” awards
For years, CES has awarded notable tech innovations by giving CES Innovation Awards. However, it doesn’t overlook those who were less successful in presenting their devices.
The show recently released the winners of the “Worst in Show” awards. An award is given to companies that have developed wasteful, inoperative, and even harmful devices.
This year's winners also highlighted the emerging trend of powering devices with AI, even if it’s not necessary.

It seems that the winners of such an award could be any company, ranging from tech giants to startups.
Among those who received the “Worst in Show” award were Samsung and its refrigerator, powered by its “Bespoke AI.” The company received the award after the device had a hard time understanding commands during the show.
Another award winner is Amazon for its Ring doorbell camera system, which raises privacy concerns.
When it comes to environmental impact, an award went to Lollipop Star, which is a candy that plays music while you eat it. However, once you’re done with it, it can be thrown away, as it can’t be reused.
Bosch received two awards, one for its Personal AI Barista coffee maker and another for its eBike Flow App.
The unwanted award was also received by Merach's home treadmill line, which features an AI-powered coach, raising security concerns.
The Worst in Show awards are procured by Repair.org, the repair industry trade association, with the help of “consumer and tech advocacy organizations,” reports iFixit.

A dashcam that sees in the dark
Vantrue, a tech company specializing in road safety devices, has released its new dashcam, the Vantrue Pilot 2.
What sets this device apart from similar technology in this category is that it comes equipped with a thermal camera, which enables night vision.
The Pilot 2 features front, rear, and thermal imaging capabilities through separate cameras.
The device features two front cameras. One captures the view from the front windshield (with 1080p resolution), and the other captures the view from the front windshield. The rear camera captures the view from the back, with both cameras capturing imagery at a 1440p resolution.
The thermal imaging camera, which can detect people or wildlife on the road, is placed inside the vehicle. The device then sends a live feed to a touchscreen, which displays the recordings.
The Pilot 2 also includes CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Although the price of the device has not yet been released, the Vantrue Pilot 2 is expected to be released sometime in the third quarter of 2026.

MyPersonas: AI software that clones employees
IgniteTech, a Texas-based company, has developed an AI tool that can create digital clones of employees.
MyPersonas is a platform that creates replicas of employees by learning from their videos, audio, and written texts.
The virtual version is then able to answer questions, engage in video conversations, and respond in 160 languages. Since the replica is trained on data about a real person, the “clone” also mimics their mannerisms and speech.
The primary goal of having a digital clone is to make it easier for employees, especially those in HR or training, to tackle repetitive tasks such as conducting job interviews and onboarding.
However, the use of such AI software raises privacy concerns and questions about how user data is managed and what happens to the digital twin after the employee leaves the company.

Lenovo at CES 2026: intuitive laptops and AI-powered monitor assistance
One of the most anticipated companies launching new devices at CES is Lenovo.

One of the laptops that the company is presenting during CES 2026 is the ThinkBook Plug Gen 7 Auto Twist.

CES is also a great opportunity to showcase even the most niche devices and features.
What if one of those “devices” is actually popular building bricks?

While Lego is a well-known company with fans across all age groups, it appears to be jumping on the AI bandwagon with the introduction of the Lego SMART Play System.
The system helps redefine the Lego parts as we know them and bring them to life, not only to be played with but also to “play back.”
The new Lego system consists of three key elements: the SMART Brick, SMART Tags, and SMART Minifigures.
Smarter solutions for everyday devices
To put the consumer in the consumer electronics show, a number of companies announced their latest take on innovations related to everyday life, which were unveiled during the days following the official start of CES.
Among such examples are a wireless HDMI adapter that doesn’t require any wires or WiFi connection to cast from 130 feet and a smart scale for $600 that can tell you if your blood pressure is too high.
It appears that this year, CES is also big on robots that can be used for various manual tasks.
For those who dislike doing their laundry, LG has unveiled a humanoid robot that can fold laundry for you.

What to expect from CES 2026?
This year, the event officially begins on January 6th, but thanks to the CES pre-show and media day, the first news about new devices, programs, and services is already being shared with audiences.

One of the reasons many tech giants refrain from announcing major tech releases during CES is that they don’t want to be overshadowed by the stream of news about the latest releases from other companies.
Nevertheless, they rarely disappoint when it comes to new releases, as many take time to speculate what will be released during the event.
It has been previously reported that this year’s CES should focus on AR, VR, XR headsets, foldable phones, and Micro and Mini-LED RGB TVs.
