
Portfolio Escrow, a third-party escrow service provider for the real estate industry, informed its clients about the potential theft of its sensitive data.
On July 10th, an “unknown individual” stole devices from Portfolio Escrow’s office, as reported by the State of California Department of Justice.
Portfolio Escrow has investigated the incident and determined that clients’ personal information “may have been stored on the stolen devices.”
The company states that there is “no evidence” that clients’ personal information has been accessed or misused, however, it offered affected clients complimentary credit and identity protection services.
Portfolio Escrow is based in California state and is licensed and regulated by The Department of Financial Protection.
