Rumours about the iPhone 18's new charging port are greatly exaggerated. Millions of TikTokers are fuming over a viral video that purports to show the new iPhone.

A TikTok video went viral for showcasing a future iPhone with a magnetic charging port.
-
The video gained massive traction, accumulating over 17 million views. It sparked widespread debate and frustration among users about Apple's design choices.
-
It was reported that the video showed misleading information about the new smartphone.
The iPhone 18 isn't even out yet, but users have already been rage-baited by this TikTok account over a charging port.
While many tech enthusiasts are busy figuring out the new features on future devices, the information they encounter should often be taken with a grain of salt.
One of the companies that is often under a magnifying glass is Apple.
The company, which is about to launch its latest products in March, with speculation that it could be new MacBooks as well as the iPhone 17e, is also expected to release the iPhone 18 in 2026.
It hasn’t even been a year since the iPhone 17 lineup launched, but rumors about future iPhones have already been circulating online, one of which has sparked a debate among users.
A TikTok account, @apppleluxs, with almost 930 thousand followers, shared a video that now has more than 17 million views and 766 thousand likes, showing what is supposed to be the iPhone 18 and revealing that the future Apple smartphone will feature a new charging port.
The video shows how the magnetic charger, similar to the one used to charge MacBook laptops, is being used for the iPhone 18.

The TikTok video sparked online discussion, with some users making jokes about the situation and pointing out how inconvenient this change will be, while others shared their frustration with Apple wanting to be “different.”
“Yo bro, you got a magnet charger?” wrote one user.
“Type C was invented to be a ‘jack of all trades’ wire, and Apple decided to just be different,” wrote another user.
Nevertheless, the video, which appears to come from a verified TikTok account, shared information that seemed fake, according to NewsGuard’s Reality Check.

It reports that the TikTok account belongs to an Apple reseller in Indonesia, which used AI to generate the video, likely to gain more attention for the account.
There seems to be another TikTok account that uses the same logo as the verified one. However, this one, under the name @appleluxury_, has significantly fewer followers (520).
Its bio also includes a text in Indonesian, which Google translates to “New iPhone for sale with official warranty.”
While the account doesn’t include a link to a website or an online shop, it also posts content related to iPhones.
Meanwhile, current speculations on iPhone 18 don’t indicate that Apple will be making changes related to how its iPhones are charged.
Apple has already made charger-related changes by switching its Lightning port to USB-C to comply with European Union (EU) legislation that requires all devices sold within the EU to include a universal charging port.
