With Apple, intelligence comes with a monthly fee.
This year's Apple event is eagerly anticipated thanks to the launch of its latest iPhone and the release of its latest iOS18 feature, Apple Intelligence.
Apple AI's testing phase revealed that the new feature has some hiccups, such as prioritizing phishing emails or providing inaccurate search results.
The company also narrowed the circle of its AI users by revealing that Apple Intelligence will only work on two of its latest iPhone models, and there might be difficulties for iPhone users in Europe.
Now, it's reported that Apple Intelligence might become a paid feature, with its premium tier costing around $15 – $20 a month.
With Premium AI, users will be able to create "Genmojis" and custom images, use improved Siri, and get their emails generated by ChatGPT.
Technology analyst Dan Ives explained to Daily Mail that Apple Intelligence could provide a three-tier service, offering bronze, silver, and gold levels. The gold, or premium, level would be the one users will have to pay for.
Previously, we reported that Apple Intelligence should be released in October as part of an iOS18 update rather than being launched with the iPhone 16.
The feature will likely be initially available for free so that users have time to get used to it. After a year or so, Apple could start charging for its AI model, possibly during the iPhone 17 launch.
This situation sparked many discussions online, one of which was on Reddit after someone asked, "Would you subscribe to Apple Intelligence?"
Many users said they wouldn't be paying for the feature, with one user summarizing it all with: "I'm so over subscriptions. If they add it to iCloud+ with no cost increase, then I'm all for it. Otherwise, it will definitely be a non-starter for me."
