While tracking health data is useful, the real benefit comes from the insights it can provide. However, it’s not always easy to draw actionable conclusions.
To help address this, Google has introduced Insights Explorer, a part of its Fitbit Labs program.
The experimental AI-based feature works for select Fitbit Premium users, allowing them to ask questions and receive insights regarding their health data. The new feature comes a year after Google introduced its AI into Fitbit.
The new feature works by users asking it questions related to their health statistics. The Insights Explorer can provide insights, trends, summaries, and explanations through charts and infographics, helping users gain a clearer picture of their health.
The tool also includes suggested prompts for users who need help figuring out how to start or what to ask.
The chat box uses metrics such as steps, all sleep-related data, active zone minutes (AZM), heart rate variability (HRV), and more.
The feature is available for a limited number of users. To check if you’re eligible, tap on the “You” tab, where you’ll find the “Fitbit Labs” section. If it’s available, you can simply tap “See all,” then select "lab" and sign up to use it.
The news about this experimental feature comes after some major changes with Fitbit. At the beginning of the year, Google adjusted Fitbit’s name, later proceeding with changes regarding its website. First, the company decided to replace Fitbit.com with an app, following the web’s shutdown a few months later.
While it might seem that Google is slowly wiping out Fitbit, its users should not worry as the company is promoting the use of Fitbit with its Google Pixel smartwatches and is now adding new features for a better understanding of health metrics.
