The upcoming Tesla Bot, also known as Optimus, is moving to the next development stage.
Tesla has placed a job posting, saying that it’s looking for new employees to contribute to the development of its Optimus bot.
The employees will have to mimic the movements and actions the Optimus bot is expected to perform while wearing a motion capture suit and a VR headset.
The posting states that employees must be 5'7" - 5’11" tall to fit in these motion capture suits.
In addition, they must also be in good physical condition and perform various movements while carrying a motion suit and VR headset weighing 30lb for more than seven hours a day.
During the working day, employees are expected to provide feedback about using motion suits as well as daily reports detailing their observations and issues.
The advertisement also suggests that the job might not be suitable for all, as wearing VR headsets or working in a virtual environment can be disorienting and uncomfortable for some people and can result in VR sickness symptoms.
The salary for the position will range from $25.25 - $48.00/hour, depending on various factors, including job-related knowledge and skills as well as benefits.
The employees are expected to work day and night shifts in California.
In July, Musk said that Tesla will have genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla's internal use next year and, hopefully, high production for other companies in 2026.
Previously, Musk has said that he expects Optimus to be priced somewhere between $20,000 to $30,000 per robot.
