Music streaming giant Spotify has finally launched its daily updated music playlist to all users worldwide. The music streaming giant has also promised to include more local creators.
Spotify’s daylist provides users with an ever-changing playlist of songs that supposedly match the listeners’ mood according to the time of the day. The personalized music list supposedly adapts to the listener's music habits, meaning that every user receives a different selection.
The feature was first introduced in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland in September last year and expanded to 65 more countries this spring. According to Spotify, its data shows that 70% of daylist listeners continue to use the feature, with millions of listeners tuning in every day.
The feature will be accessible to free and premium account users with expanded support to include new languages such as Arabic, Catalan, French (Canada), French (France), German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), and Turkish.
Users can access their daylist here or in the Made For You section of the app. Every user will see unique daylist titles in the supported languages. The playlist’s name will indicate which part of the day it thinks it is.
“Our product team worked closely with our local music and culture experts to infuse the spirit of daylist into each language, ensuring that the feature resonates with new users worldwide,” Spotify said.
Interestingly, I’ve noticed that while it was way past 5 p.m. at the time of writing, Spotify still thought I could use a “good morning” playlist, with the next playlist update planned only at 8 p.m.
Earlier this year Spotify announced it was jumping deeper into the artificial intelligence (AI) bandwagon with its beta version of “AI playlist,” which could feature music mixes according to simple prompts.
Other Spotify’s AI-driven tools include AI-DJ, which gives a lineup of music based on user preferences and provides information about the music using generative AI, and the daylists.
