Wix pricing can be tricky to navigate with so many plans and features available. After using Wix for over 2 years, I’ve gained hands-on insight into what each plan truly offers.

In this article, I’ll break down Wix pricing and plans and help you decide which one fits your website needs best, whether it's a blog, portfolio, or online store.

What is Wix?

Wix is a popular website builder that also provides web hosting. Known for its stunning templates and user-friendly drag-and-drop interface, it's ideal for beginners since no coding or web development knowledge is required. It's highly intuitive, making it easy to create any type of website, whether it's a blog, personal site, portfolio, or online store.

Overview of Wix plans and pricing

Wix offers 4 paid options and a free plan. The free plan is completely free ($0.00/month) for an unlimited time. The paid plans include Light (starting at $14.00/month), Core (starting at $23.50/month), Business (starting at $31.00/month), and Business Elite (starting at $110.00/month).

Free plan – $0.00/month

The free Wix plan is completely free of charge for an unlimited time. It provides access to most of its core features, the full Wix Editor, and all available templates, which makes it a great way to explore the platform. Here’s what more you’ll get with the free plan:

• 500MB of storage
• Up to 1GB bandwidth
• Built-in SEO tools
• Email marketing
• Free SSL certificate

While it offers useful tools, the free plan comes with limited resources and Wix branding on the site. It’s a good option for personal blogs, portfolios, and small businesses that want to test the builder, but for everything else, I suggest upgrading to a paid plan.

You also don’t get to choose a custom domain and instead have to use a Wix subdomain, such as yourwebsitename.wixsite.com. Not having your own domain means you won’t be able to do SEO for your brand or have a custom business email. This is a dealbreaker for serious businesses with plans to grow.

Light plan – $14.00/month

The Light plan starts at $14.00/month and includes a free domain for one year, secure hosting, and the ability to connect a custom domain – a big upgrade from the free version. You’ll also get access to the following features:

• 2 collaborators
• 2GB of storage
• Light marketing tools
• Basic developer platform

Here’s how the price of the Light plan differs based on the subscription period:

• Monthly price – $24.00/month
• Annual price – $17.00/month
• 2-year price – $15.50/month
• 3-year price – $14.00/month

The Light plan is ideal for personal websites, portfolios, and small projects looking to establish a professional online presence without a Wix subdomain or ads. However, its limited storage and bandwidth might also not be enough for content-heavy sites, and it doesn’t support eCommerce features, so businesses planning to sell products should consider a higher-tier plan.

Core plan – $23.50/month

The Core plan starts at $23.50/month and, like all paid plans, includes a custom domain, removal of Wix branding, and 24/7 customer support. Wix also used to offer Wix Ascend, a built-in all-in-one solution for businesses to automate email, SEO tools, and more. It was discontinued in 2023, but its marketing, SEO, and eCommerce tools were integrated into the paid plans, with Core being the most affordable option that offers eCommerce features. Here’s what else you’ll get with the Core plan:

Core is ideal for small company websites, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. It caters to websites that require more resources than what’s offered in Light. The price differs depending on how long you subscribe:

However, Core is not ideal for online stores or businesses that need advanced analytics and eCommerce functionality – those features are reserved for higher-tier plans.

Business plan – $31.00/month

The Business plan starts at $31.00/month and includes everything from the Core plan but adds more advanced eCommerce and analytics tools to help manage sales and growth. You can securely accept online payments, sell products or services, and access detailed business insights. Here’s what more you’ll get with the Business plan:

• Full marketing suite
• All payment tools
• Complete eCommerce platform

Wix’s Business plan is ideal for medium-sized businesses and media-intensive sites or those that need ample resources. The price depends on the subscription period you choose:

The only limitation of the Business Elite plan is its premium price, which may be unnecessary for smaller projects that don’t need enterprise-level features.

Wix refund policy

Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on all plans. Keep in mind that it only applies to initial purchases, so any renewals won’t be eligible for a refund.

If you want to cancel and get your money back, it’s pretty straightforward. Simply cancel the site plan through the account settings, and the refund will be automatically processed.

It's important to note that third-party apps or domains purchased separately are not refundable. However, these subscriptions can be canceled at any time if you decide you no longer need them.

Compare Wix plans and prices

When it comes to its premium plans, Wix’s costs are pretty reasonable. While it's not the cheapest provider on the market, the resources and features included are very much worth it.

Are there any Wix discounts?

Yes, currently, Wix offers a limited 50% discount on most of its plans. With it, you get the Core, Business, and Business Elite plans at half price. Keep in mind that this offer is valid only for yearly and multi-year subscriptions.

If the 50% discount has expired, there’s also a 10% discount available on full-price plans. Simply use the code TAKE10 during checkout, and your price will be lowered by 10%.

Wix additional costs

Wix includes all the important elements you will need to get your website up, such as hosting, a free domain, SSL, and a website editor. You are not going to see something like extra Wix email pricing. This is good news as it cuts down on the additional costs. That said, you may still need to spend on a few things long-term:

• Apps (such as Ascend and other apps on Wix App Market)

Transaction and payment fees

Wix doesn’t have any transaction fees that would depend on which plan you get. However, you still might encounter payment fees if you use Wix Payments, which is its free in-house payment gateway.

Here, for every payment you receive through the gateway, there’s a processing fee. The exact Wix payment fee depends on your region:

• USA: 2.9% of the transaction amount + $0.30
• Canada: 2.9% of the transaction amount + CA$0.30
• United Kingdom: 2.1% of the transaction amount + £0.20
• EU countries: 1.9% of the transaction amount + €0.30
• Switzerland: 2.3% of the transaction amount + 0.30 CHF

Other payment integrations such as PayPal, Stripe, and Apple Pay are also available, which charge the same payment fees as Wix Payments.

Domain registration after the 1st year

You get a free domain name for a year with all of Wix’s paid plans. However, once the first year is up, you’ll need to pay yearly renewal rates. So, if you need a new domain, I recommend skipping Wix, as its prices are on the higher side. For common TLDs like .com, prices start at $9.90/year for the first year.

To go around Wix’s high domain price, you can connect a domain hosted by other platforms. For instance, Hostinger charges $2.99/year for the first year for a basic .com TLD, with a renewal price of $17.99/year.

Wix App Market

Wix is pretty self-sufficient, and you shouldn’t have any problem running a successful website with the builder. But, if you want to optimize and maximize its potential, you’ll need to purchase third-party apps on Wix App Market.

There are hundreds of options, and Wix store pricing ranges from free to even hundreds per month – depending on what you need and the extension you go for. Many tools come with free versions or trials. For instance, Google Ads + Retargeting includes a free plan, with an upgrade available for $99.00/month.

Generally speaking, you can expect to spare a few bucks each month in order to enjoy the full range of features.

How to get the best Wix deal

To get the best deal with Wix, I suggest opting for an annual billing period, looking for an alternative domain registrar, and skipping premium apps.

• Skip premium apps

Choose an annual billing cycle

Opt for multi-year plans to save up to 50%. For instance, Core's monthly cost is $36.00. But, if you opt for a 3-year subscription, it’ll cost just $23.50/month.

Wait for holiday discounts

Find the best deal for a domain after the first year

Make sure to shop around for a better deal once it’s time for domain renewal. Here’s a quick breakdown of prices for a common .com TLD from different providers:

Cut on extra apps
