Nearly 80,000 Anker Bluetooth speakers have been recalled due to battery overheating problems.
The Chinese electronics maker Anker is recalling its Bluetooth speakers, which were sold exclusively on Amazon in 2023.
The recall involves the lithium-ion battery packs in Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speakers models A3102016, A3302011, and A3302031.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Anker has received 33 reports of incidents involving the lithium-ion batteries in the speakers overheating.
In some instances, this caused smoke and small fires, while one user experienced one minor burn injury.
The speakers were retailed on Amazon from March 2023 through October 2023 and cost between $28 and $130. Over 69,000 affected units were sold in the US and nearly 10,000 in Canada.
According to CPSC, users should stop using the recalled speakers, ensure they are powered off, and are not connected to any external power source or charger.
Those with affected models should fill out a recall form on the Anker website. The company will provide information on how to get a replacement.
