Apple Worldwide Developer Conference – June dates confirmed

Apple has announced the second week in June for its much anticipated 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), held annually online and at Apple Park in California’s Silicon Valley.

Apple on Tuesday confirmed that the developer-oriented event will kick off with a keynote on June 10th and run through June 14th, 2024.

Apple's Senior Vice President of Marketing Greg Joswiak posted the news on X. "It’s going to be absolutely incredible!" he wrote.

While the public gets to tune in to a live stream of the WWDC2024 broadcast on Youtube and apple.com, the tech giant has invited both developers and students to attend an in-person special event at the Cupertino-based campus to celebrate opening day.

Attendees will be able to watch a presentation of the keynote in Apple Park, take part in other exclusive activities, such as meet and greets with Apple experts, and get a first-hand look at new tools, frameworks, and product features.

The conference is free for all developers who attend, Apple said, to provide developers access to Apple designers, engineers, and latest innovations, all to help them “elevate their apps and games.”

At last year's conference, CEO Tim Cook introduced the Apple Vision Pro VR headset to the world for the first time – along with its $3,499 price tag.

This year, Apple is expected to wow crowds with the iPhone’s ‘biggest’ and most advanced software update yet with iOS18, which boasts a customizable screen.

Also In its 2024 reveal, Apple is expected to spotlight AI integration with many of its software products, Bloomberg News reported earlier this month.

Additionally, Apple said it will showcase the latest advancements for iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

“WWDC is all about sharing new ideas and providing our amazing developers with innovative tools and resources to help them make something even more wonderful,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.

Participants from Apple’s student developer challenge, known as the Swift Student Challenge, are being considered for the in-person, three-day opening event.

“For the 2024 Challenge, out of 350 winners, we’ll recognize ‘50 Distinguished Winners’ for their outstanding submissions and invite them to Apple in Cupertino for an extraordinary experience,” Apple said.

Developers can apply to attend the June 10th event on the Apple developer app or developer website.
