Scalenut review 2025

Scalenut is an ambitious platform that combines AI writing and SEO in one place. Its ability to quickly produce content at scale made it quite popular among content marketers. Naturally, I wanted to put it to the test. With the support of the Cybernews research team, I explored Scalenut's features to see if it could craft high-quality content, suggest viable SEO strategies, and automate workflows.

In this Scalenut review, I'll analyze its key features, share my hands-on experience, and evaluate its usability and value for money. I'll also compare it to a few popular alternatives to see how it holds up.

Quick overview of Scalenut

Scalenut is an all-in-one AI platform for content creation and SEO. It includes a guided Article Writer, AI image generation, traffic insights, SERP analysis, and internal linking. For extra functionality, you can opt for paid add-ons like Link Manager and OnPage Pro. Scalenut also integrates seamlessly with popular platforms like Semrush, Grammarly, and WordPress.

What is Scalenut?

According to its marketing pitch, Scalenut automates content creation, saving 90% of the time while driving 10x more organic traffic. In essence, Scalenut uses AI to write and optimize content for you – from topic and keyword research to on-page SEO. Theoretically, it's a great all-in-one solution for writers, marketers, and businesses that need quick content at scale.

During my tests, Scalenut wasn't exactly 90% quicker than my usual workflow. Granted, I got the first draft in under 10 minutes, but editing and humanizing AI-generated text took some time.

The all-in-one approach means Scalenut is competing with all popular AI tools, from Jasper to Surfer SEO. With that in mind, let's dive into the pros and cons I discovered during my testing.

Pros and cons of Scalenut

Key features of Scalenut

Scalenut can streamline content creation by speeding up its initial stages and offering helpful SEO insights. Although its text often needs heavy editing, it can save time on keyword research, outline planning, and drafting the first version. Here's a quick breakdown of Scalenut's key features and my test results.

Content creation

Scalenut generates content quickly and provides relevant SEO guidelines. You can use its AI-driven Keyword Planner and Article Writer to produce blogs, articles, and marketing content at scale. The Content Optimizer and Link Manager will help you optimize for SERP. Finally, the unique Detect and Humanize feature can soften the AI-generated feel of the text.

My first draft had an AI score of 87%, while the humanized version got 46%, which is still not ideal. The humanized text also required editing to meet my quality standards.

SEO optimization

Scalenut can boost your SEO by analyzing the SERP and relevant keywords. The final report includes high-impact keywords and their respective clusters. These can help you cover multiple search queries while avoiding extensive editing across different pages.

Like Surfer SEO, Scalenut provides an SEO score and suggests optimizations. It also includes a readability score, helping you tailor content for different readers.

AI writing assistance

With Scalenut's Article Writer, you can customize article type, tone of voice, and AI image generation. It also offers numerous article templates to save time. The H1 generation still needs some work since it just alternates between a few versions.

The outline generation is based on top-ranking articles, so I recommend caution to avoid plagiarism. The Gap Finder didn't identify any content gaps for me.

Finally, my first draft, though quick, had that formal overtone typical of AI writing. Grammarly flagged more than half of the intro as AI writing, and the trend continued throughout the article.

Scalenut's text editor resembles Surfer SEO. It shows all the key info about your article and allows unobstructed edits.

I had a hit-or-miss experience with image generation during my tests. Around 60% of the images were on point, while the rest felt generic or irrelevant. I recommend playing around with this feature until you get the results you want.

SERP ideas and clustering

Scalenut's SERP analysis gives you a detailed overview of high-ranking competitors for any keyword. You can explore top-page stats like word counts, SEO scores, H tags, outlines, and images. I particularly liked the Questions tab, which pulls relevant user queries from platforms like Google, Quora, and Reddit. It's a helpful tool to gauge user intent before you start writing.

The clustering option can add depth to your content. By covering terms related to your main keyword, you can create one comprehensive text or a series of articles based on these clusters. Building content around keyword clusters also improves your SEO and addresses user intent more effectively, potentially lowering bounce rates.

Collaboration tools

Scalenut is a strong tool for small business teams. You can add new members to your account and edit their roles and access levels. The Pro plan covers up to 5 additional seats, but you can get more at an extra cost. Co-workers can share documents like content briefs, drafts, or final outputs for review.

Some use cases for Scalenut's collaborative features could include sending content for approval and providing feedback, jointly analyzing SEO metrics and optimizing content, or sharing projects with clients.

Scalenut pricing and plans

Scalenut offers 3 subscription plans, each with its own features and limitations. Here's a quick overview:

PlanPriceKey featuresExtra featuresBest for
Essential$49/month (7-day free trial)5 articles and optimizations/humanizations/monthAI images, SERP analysis, NLP key terms, AI-SEO editor, document sharingNew bloggers and marketing freelancers
Growth$79/month (7-day free trial)30 articles, optimizations/humanizations, and keyword clusters/month + 100 web page analyses/month (+ unlimited domains)Internal linking, topic gaps, auto-optimization, auto-publish, third-party integrationsGrowing businesses, content marketers, agencies
Pro$149/month (7-day free trial)75 articles, optimizations/humanizations, and keyword clusters/month + 1500 web page analyses/month (+ unlimited domains)Cannibalization, advanced keyword planner, add up to 5 team members, live SEO consultations, dedicated CSMEstablished businesses and agencies with higher content demands

The Essential plan works if your content needs are minimal. So, if you're new to content creation, writing a few articles per month, this could be a good starting point.

The Growth plan offers better flexibility and value for most users. However, at $79/month, it's priced similarly to Surfer SEO's Essential plan, which includes up to 5 team members – a clear advantage for businesses. Still, if Scalenut's all-in-one approach appeals to you, I recommend this package.

The Pro plan doesn't offer enough for medium or large teams. At $149/month, the 5-member limit feels restrictive, especially given the steep costs of adding extra seats. Furthermore, Scalenut's AI writing quality is slightly under GPT, which costs just $20/month.

Scalenut also has a Free Forever plan, which you can use after your free trial expires or you cancel your premium subscription.

Scalenut: user experience

User feedback on platforms like Trust Pilot highlights Scalenut's intuitive design and ease of use. Beginner writers especially appreciate Cruise Mode's guiding hand in the early stages of content creation. However, some users feel that many features are unnecessary. On the plus side, app integrations and the ability to export work are universally well-received.

Some experienced users were unhappy with the writing quality, particularly the robotic tone and long-winded sentences. They also mention the extra time spent editing and refining the AI-generated text. Some negative reviews focus on customer support issues, including slow responses and the inability to delete accounts directly from personal dashboards. Some billing issues and occasional bugs have also been reported.

Despite the robotic sentence structure, many users are happy with the overall tone of voice, noting that their choices had a tangible impact on the final output. Most reviews praise Scalenut's smooth performance, with only a few minor glitches.

A lot of Scalenut reviews appreciate its multi-language support. Scalenut is unanimously praised by marketers who use it for sales emails, promotional long-form articles, and video scripts.

Overall, users like Scalenut's user-friendly design, quick content generation, (mostly) smooth performance, and customizable tone. However, common issues include convoluted AI sentences, inconsistent customer support, and lower-quality non-English content.

How to use Scalenut

Thanks to Scalenut's intuitive design and the aforementioned Cruise Mode, you can start generating content in a few simple steps:

1. Sign up and create an account

Click the Sign-Up button on the homepage, provide the necessary credentials, and confirm your email. You'll have to share your credit card info, even if you're just activating the free 7-day trial. Remember to cancel your subscription before the trial expires if you're not satisfied with Scalenut.

2. Setting up your first project

Once in your personal Scalenut dashboard, you can start your first writing project by clicking Create in the Article Writer tool. If you need keyword research, you can start with Keyword Planner. Finally, if you want to optimize existing content, you can do that with Content Optimizer.

3. Using the AI writer to generate content

I tested Scalenut's AI writing by having it make a series of Scalenut reviews for me. The process starts with entering the primary and secondary keywords you wish to rank for. Once a project is generated, click it to initiate the Cruise Mode. Its 4 steps include context, title, outline, and first draft. After you generate the first version, you can skip to the editor and refine the text.

4. Optimizing content with the SEO tools

After generating your first draft, you can follow Scalenut's SEO recommendations to optimize your text. Apart from the SEO and readability scores, you can adjust key terms, meta tags, URLs, featured snippets, H1 headings, links, content depth, and keyword density.

Scalenut optimizing tools

As mentioned, Scalenut has trouble hitting its own SEO goals, so you'll have to get there through manual edits.

5. Publishing and exporting content

Once you're happy with your project, you can copy it to your CMS or use WordPress integration for direct publishing. You can also create shareable links and grant different access levels to the recipients.

For offline work, you can export your documents in various formats (PDF, Doc, HTML, and Markdown).

Scalenut alternatives

When choosing an AI content tool, I always recommend doing a bit of research and finding out how it compares to its closest competitors. With that in mind, here's a brief snapshot of some Scalenut alternatives:

  • Jasper AI (formerly Jarvis AI) offers a 1-month free trial and has a free limited version. The premium plan costs only $9.99/month and supports GPT-4.0/Turbo, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Ultra chat models. It has a powerful AI writing assistant and copilots for Jira and Github. In essence, Jasper is a better writing tool than Scalenut, and I recommend it to all writers, marketers, and teams who don't prioritize SEO. If SEO is important for your work, you can combine Jasper with Ahrefs, Semrush, or Surfer SEO or use Scalenut instead.
  • Copy.ai is similar to Chat GPT, with a few more writer-oriented tools. It has the best options for the tone of voice and can generate content as quickly as Scalenut. You can also automate things with its Workflows feature. It has a free limited version, and the premium plans start at $49/month. At that price, Scalenut just offers more, given its ability to research keywords and optimize for SEO. If you want a free tool, Chat GPT's free version is more flexible than Copy-ai's.
  • Surfer SEO is Scalenut's chief competitor since it offers largely the same features while being a better-known brand. Surfer's Essential plan is slightly pricier than Scalenut's cheapest package, but it provides seats for 5 teammates, internal linking, and automatic page tracking. It also has a custom enterprise plan where you can set your own limits, which is ideal for large businesses. Scalenut simply can't compete with that. Surfer offers more add-ons and integrations, including Jasper, which is a better writing tool than Scalenut. So, the choice between the two depends on your needs – if you're working alone, don't care about flashy add-ons and integrations, and want to save some money, you can go with Scalenut. Otherwise, I recommend Surfer SEO.

Final word on Scalenut review

After extensive testing for this Scalenut review, I found a platform with a great vision and potential. Indeed, combining all the popular AI writing and SEO tools into a single solution sounds like an automatic win in the current AI craze. However, like any tool, Scalenut has its polished side and some not-so-great features.

I liked its versatile time-saving templates, which are especially helpful when writing formulaic content like product descriptions or content briefs. It generates content quickly – you can go from keyword research to the complete first draft in 10 minutes. The Cruise Mode is a lifesaver for new writers that guides you through all the steps of content creation. The SEO insights were on par with Surfer SEO, which guarantees SERP-friendly content. Finally, you can connect Scalenut with popular apps like Grammarly or Semrush.

On the other hand, Scalenut's writing does need some editing and fact-checking. The image generation can also miss the mark on occasion. That said, if you're looking for AI writing, keyword research, and content optimization in one tool, you can hardly go wrong with Scalenut.
