Meta hopes that in 2026, advertisers will be able to create and personalize ads on its platforms.

Meta plans to introduce fully automated and personalized ads.

This move is expected to benefit small and medium businesses with limited advertising budgets.

AI might significantly impact advertising, but its contribution to economic growth is considered to be modest.
According to the WSJ, quoting anonymous sources familiar with the matter, Meta’s AI tools will create an entire ad for a brand, including images, videos, and text. The system would also then describe which platform and what demographics to target.
Meta will also enable advertisers to personalise ads with AI in real time. For personalization, it would use, for example, location data.
“A person seeing an advertisement for a car in a snowy place, for example, might see the car driving up a mountain, whereas a person seeing an ad for that same car in an urban area would see it driving on a city street,” WSJ writes.
AI-created ad campaigns are expected to boost small and midsize businesses, which represent most of the advertisers on Meta’s platforms.
“We’re going to get to a point where you’re a business, you come to us, you tell us what your objective is, you connect to your bank account, you don’t need any creative, you don’t need any targeting demographic, you don’t need any measurement, except to be able to read the results that we spit out. I think that’s going to be huge, I think it is a redefinition of the category of advertising,” Mark Zuckerberg said in May during an interview with Stratechery about AI and the evolution of social media.
Businesses must be interested in saving money on advertising. Without AI, some probably wouldn’t run any ad campaigns at all. However, we can expect big corporations to use AI to cut their advertising budgets, meaning fewer job opportunities for advertising professionals.
Overall, AI’s impact on the world economy will most likely be limited. According to the latest
Chief Economists Outlook report by the World Economic Forum, AI’s contribution to global real GDP will be modest (0–5%) over the next decade.
