National legislation is years away

“Realistically, enacting such legislation could take several years. First, there would need to be bipartisan agreement on the scope and enforcement mechanisms, which could be a lengthy process given the political landscape,” says Kalim Khan, co-founder and senior partner at Affinity lawyers.
