Sony will soon launch its PlayStation 5 upgrade – the PS5 Pro. However, it might be a less user-friendly gaming console for physical game players.
The Japanese company first released the PlayStation 5 at the end of 2019. It’s now launching an upgraded version of the game console, dubbed PlayStation 5 Pro, confirming speculation about an exciting new release this year.
The new device is reported to have several new features, including an upgraded GPU with 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory compared with PlayStation 5. The company says the PS5 Pro will run “much smoother” thanks to this update.
With a more powerful ray tracing, PS5 Pro will work two, sometimes even three times faster.
For better-quality images, the company is also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, powered by AI.
Among the features is also PS5 Pro Game Boost, “which can apply to more than 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro.”
Despite the number of device upgrades, one of the less convenient changes to the PS5 Pro is the fact that it’s a disc-less console that will be sold “with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately,” shared the company.
While the company has already introduced the idea of a disc-less gaming console by launching PS5 Slim, it still provided users with a detachable disc drive.
The new version of PlayStation 5 Pro is priced at $700. Device pre-orders will be available on the PlayStation website from September 26th, with the launch planned for November 7th.
